On October 14, 2025, a total of 3,070 individuals from the NEPS starting cohort 3 received a postal invitation to participate in the DSDLC NEPS next Add-On study.

While one half of the invitees received a link to the “classic” web survey, the other half was given access to the newly developed web app. For the first time, the treatment group can dynamically update their life course data at any time using the new web application.

The survey within the NEPS next sample marks the first of two field experiments in the DSDLC project. The second experiment is planned for February 2026 and will be conducted using a sample of the DZHW study Studying in Germany.
